Ova lipid profiling and egg quality in wild and captive lumpfish, Cyclopterus lumpus (Linnaeus, 1758)

چکیده
Lumpfish ( Cyclopterus lumpus ) serves an important role as cleaner fish for removing salmon lice in aquaculture. For this use, cultivated lumpfish are preferred over wild-caught to avoid overexploitation of natural stocks and provide a stable production good quality eggs larvae. To support this, high containing the necessary building blocks fertilization success, development into normal embryo hatching success is needed. Ova from captive females were collected assessed identify how wild domesticated differ terms ova lipid profiles, egg larvae quality. Wild-caught displayed higher compared lumpfish, whereas other biological variables like size, egg/larvae dry weight respiration, larval morphometry, not significantly different between lumpfish. profiles (total lipid, classes, fatty acid composition lipidomics) can separate batches based on their geographic origin diets used broodstock (lipid carbohydrate content). Multivariate statistics applied markers that be predict ova. lipidomic covaried with several parameters, indicating former latter. mostly composed triacylglycerides (TAGs) some phosphatidylethanolamines (PEs) phosphatidylcholines (PCs), more sensitive origins, mother weight/size than such size or morphometric measures. Cryopreservation of lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus (Linnaeus, 1758) milt
This study has established a successful protocol to cryopreserve lumpfish Cyclopterus lumpus (Linnaeus, 1758) milt. Three cryosolutions were tested based on Mounib's medium; the original medium including reduced l-glutathione (GSH), the basic sucrose and potassium bicarbonate medium without GSH, or with hen's egg yolk (EY). Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) was used as the cryoprotectant along with al...
متن کاملDevelopment of anaesthetic protocols for lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.): Effect of anaesthetic concentrations, sea water temperature and body weight
In recent years, use of lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus L.) as cleaner-fish to remove sea-lice have been chosen by many salmon farmers in Europe and Canada as an alternative to medical treatment, which has led to large scale production of lumpfish. At present, there is limited knowledge of how lumpfish respond upon anaesthesia, which anaesthetics and concentrations that are efficient and condition...
متن کاملSkin mucus proteins of lumpsucker (Cyclopterus lumpus)
Fish skin mucus serves as a first line of defense against pathogens and external stressors. In this study the proteomic profile of lumpsucker skin mucus was characterized using 2D gels coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Mucosal proteins were identified by homology searches across the databases SwissProt, NCBInr and vertebrate EST. The identified proteins were clustered into ten groups based...
متن کاملA note on captive breeding and reproductive parameters of the Chinese pangolin, Manis pentadactyla Linnaeus, 1758
The Chinese pangolin (Manis pentadactyla Linnaeus, 1758) is a critically endangered species, and documents on its captive breeding and reproductive parameters are scarce. MP8, kept in the Pangolin Research Base for Artificial Rescue and Conservation Breeding of South China Normal University (the PRB-SCNU), gave birth to a male offspring (MP86) on 19 October 2011. The baby pangolin was well deve...

In the present study, we have isolated leucocytes from peripheral blood, head kidney and spleen from lumpsucker (Cyclopterus lumpus L.), and performed functional studies like phagocytosis and respiratory burst, as well as morphological and cytochemical analyses. Different leucocytes were identified, such as lymphocytes, monocytes/macrophages and polymorphonuclear cells with bean shaped or bilob...
